According to the DCP Crime branch Joy Tirkey, the attacks on JNU campus accused are from JNUSU (Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Union) president Aishe Ghosh of violence. Till today there three cases have been registered and they are being investigated by us, said Joy Tirkey.
Delhi crime branch claimed that “The JNU administration decided to go for online registration of students from January 1 to 5. JNU Students’ Union including Students Font of India (SFI), All India Students Association(AISA) and Democratic Student Federation (DSF) were against it.”
Nine suspects have been identified by Delhi Police as attackers in the JNU violence case that are following:
- Chunchun Kumar
- Pankaj Mishra
- Aishe Ghosh
- Waskar Vijay
- Sucheta Talukdar
- Priya Ranjan
- Dolan Sawant
- Yogendra Bhardwaj
- Vikas Patel
have been named by the Delhi Police. Aishe Ghosh is the JNUSU president while both Yogendra Bhardwaj and Vikash Patel are members of the BJP’s student wing Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).
SFI, AISF, SIDA, and DSF, on January 5, at around 3:30 pm, had attacked allegedly to the students at the Periyar hostel. The JNUSU president was also there, it was also there, it was caught on camera, alleged Delhi Police.
The cops also alleged violence in the server room by the JNU students. However, no suspects have been detained till now, but we will begin to interrogate the suspects soon, Joy Tirkey confirmed.
